PAST SUCCESSES

Great American Outdoors Act

Passed in 2020, the Great American Outdoors Act provided historic funding for public lands and waters. It ensured $900 million per year for the Land and Water Conservation Fund and provides $9.5 billion over five years ($1.9 billion annually) to address the maintenance backlog on National Parks, National Forests, and other public lands.

Land and Water Conservation Act

Since the outdoor recreation and outdoor business community began working together, reauthorizing, funding, and supporting the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has been a key joint priority. Our organizations were deeply involved in reauthorizing the program in 2015 and again in 2019, as well as advocating for its full funding.

Inflation Reduction Act

Passed in 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act is a historic investment in climate and public lands that passed thanks to robust support from the outdoor business and recreation communities, particularly in West Virginia. The bill provides billions to address climate change and to conserve public lands as a part of the effort to increase climate resilience.

John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act

The outdoor community and outdoor industry worked side by side to pass this historic omnibus public lands package, which protected more than 1.3 million acres and permanently reauthorized the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
